Often I ponder how rigid we are with our views of life, people and the world. Often I wonder about how limited we must be in our perception of the universe, and when I do, I want to expand, grow and experience more, perceive more!

We don't need to look back that far to see how myopic we humans can be. At some point we believed the earth was the center of the universe and later we learned Earth actually revolves around the Sun. We also believed at some point that the planet was flat.

We also thought for a long time that it was "the gods" who made rain happen and made the crops grow. And we believed that what we thought was real just because we thought of it, regardless of the data we may have observed from the world.

I wonder what beliefs we have at this moment that may not be true. And I came up with a few "what if's" to challenge our mind and views:

What if our beliefs and experience of time are not as we think? What if time is not only linear and forward moving but we could move back and forth in time? What if space is not empty, as some may say, but actually a living substance within which all existence is formed?

What if we humans are powerful co-creators in this world, beyond our transformation of material objects? What if we are not alone in the universe and many other beings exist which could be far more advanced than us? What if they are already here and communicating with us?

What if our image of God is not fully accurate, such as our belief that God is a being who gets angry and punishes people for their mistakes? What if our quest for material possessions is a futile attempt in our quest for love, joy and peace?

What if the human race was designed and didn't just happened through natural evolution or by the act of a God as we think of it? What if there were other advance civilizations living on earth long ago?

What if what we think (our thoughts) and emotionally feel have a powerful effect on us, others and the world around us? What if many people in positions of power do not have humanity's best interests in mind?

What if fear is not what we think it is and has led us to experience our selves as powerless creatures who need to be saved? What if we are immoral in our souls? What if we are mortal and will cease to exist when the body ceases to function?

What if love is the most powerful force in the universe? What if we could tap into it by developing ourselves? What if the material world we experience is but a small fraction of what the whole universe is? What if we could develop ourselves to a level where we could experience ourselves as a spirit living in different dimensions and times?

What if we could all be happy right here, right now? What if all we have sought and wanted is not really what we truly want, but what we thought would give us what we want? What if our "internal world" could be understood and experienced as if as real as the "external one"?

What if our planet and all planets are alive and not just inert matter? What if the whole universe is an intelligent consciousness of which we are part?

What if when we believe we're right, we are wrong? What if when we feel we are wrong, we are actually right?

What if our mind's dualistic perspective is a very narrow one? What if we can tap into a greater intelligence by achieving a still mind? What if work, effort, and striving are honorable activities but not because they give us the things we are attached to, but because they make us grow and expand?

What if we could stop for a moment and experience the oneness of it all? What if we are made of the same material as the stars and the stars are made of the same stuff as us? What if stars are beings like us? What if they speak in a language we are not yet capable of hearing?

What if all the rocks, water, trees, plants and animals could speak to us in a way we could understand? If they did, what would they be saying?

What if we have been very arrogant in believing we are the greatest and most intelligent creature on earth? What if there were others more advanced than us?

What if?

What if living our lives knowing there is so much more than what we perceive, believe or want to believe, is a way to be open to grow and own more parts of ourselves we were not aware of?

What if there were higher intelligences waiting for us to become aware and say hi to them? What if they were waiting to take our hand and show us more clearly where we come from and what we are?

What if everything around us (beyond people) is talking to us and we just haven't stopped to listen? What if we did? What would we hear? What if our listening could open our hearts and our minds?

What if?
