The Magnificence Of It All

10 August 2014

Imagine that you are a small child looking at the world.

Go on, try it on.

Feel what is like to be child with a sense of wonder.

Don’t go on until you try this on.

Feeling like this little child go outside from wherever you are or if you’re close to a window put yourself in front of it.

No cheating. Are you outside or in from of a window?

If you are: Feeling like this little child with a sense of wonder, look up, look at the sky.

If it is daylight look at the clouds, look at the sun or just the blue sky. If it is night, look at the stars, look at the moon; look at the darkness.

The sky you’re looking at, is the middle point between us and a vast space.

Now ponder this: We are on this planet called earth, that is traversing with  and through a solar system. This solar system is traversing through a galaxy  and this galaxy is traversing through the Universe.

We estimate that only in our galaxy (the Milky Way) there are 100 billion stars! A 100 billion! We also estimate that we have 10 billion more galaxies in addition to ours! Try to picture that!1

Do you feel aw when you consider the vastness of our world? Do you feel excited to think that this Universe is comprehensible and that we get to comprehend it as we study and learn?

We may seem small in comparison, but remember, we are part of it, part of the Universe; and the Universe is made by us, by all of us, by everything!

Now, please look at your hands, look at your arms, look at your legs, touch  your head. All of them are parts of something we call body. Through this body we perceive the world around us. We see, hear, feel, smell and taste through it!

And who or what is that which is aware of what the body perceives? Some say that is us!

No matter what your beliefs are, we are aware living entities having an experience of this world.

We have come from being primitive monkeys to having self awareness. Because of it, we can reflect on what we experience and learn from these experiences. Because we can do that, we have discovered a little about how the Universe works.

Because of these discoveries, we can create tools for our advancement. These tools we have used to come out of the “woods” creating vast dwellings we call cities, that for good or for bad, have brought us closer to each other than ever in history.

We continue to procreate, and with every new generation we continue to build and absorb more and more knowledge. This knowledge is helping us learn more about physics, biology, chemesstry, sociology, systems and more!

We are in the beginning stages of understanding our minds, our consciousness. We are beginning to understand that our mind is intrinsically related to matter and that both affect each other (quantum physics)!

Isn’t that amazing?!

Do you ever wonder if something or someone created it all? Do you wonder how all of this came to be?

You may believe in Darwin’s theory that we are a product of evolution, or you may believe that a God created it all, or a mix of both.  No matter what your believe, this Universe is aw-some! It is vast, it is huge, it is big, it is deep, it is whatever description you may choose!

It’s easy to forget that we are part of a whole system. We are passengers on an universal trip that we are often not aware of, but still part of.

If we lose our sense of wonder we can lose our desire to discover and to build. There’s so much still to learn, to create and love.

And just as we have an outer space we can admire and explore,   we also have an inner space within all of us, that is also vast and unexplored by even our most capable scientists.

It seems to me that in time, our explorations and studies of consciousness will become as important as our studies of our “external reality”.  I believe we will learn and understand that we are so much more than what we think we are. We will learn that we are the Universe, as the Universe is us. Like a hologram, in each piece the whole is and the whole is in each piece.

And as we journey into the vastness of our own consciousness we may discover the source of it, the source of it all, the source of all things, the source of creation, the beginning of…..

Do you feel elated to ponder this?!

Do you feel aw and connected when you think that whatever life we have, and whatever it is that we go through, we do as part of a whole system that is present as we live our short earthy life?

This is what we can see when we look at the sky with eyes of wonder. This is what we can experience when we look at the moon, at the sun and the stars. This is what we can feel when we look at ourselves.

By being humble, in aw and appreciative of life, all of us can become beacons of a new era of discovery. An era on which we will learn what we are and what our role in this Universe is.

I feel this is an exciting and a worthy perspective to keep as we go to work, handle our family affairs  and as we live our seemingly ordinary life.

With love,
