When I Die

When I die

I hope to leave the world better

than when I arrived

I hope to leave behind

more beauty and love

I hope that I added more joy

to those around me

And I hope that I didn't destroy

more than I built

When I'm gone

If I'm able to remember

I want to recall memories

Of friendship

Of effort

Of struggle

To build my self

To uphold that which I cared about

To sustain those that I loved

And if when I die

I'll loose all consciousness

I hope that the memories of me

are of something good

living forever

in those that I touched
